Imposter breaking and entering activities (B&E) have been occurring frequently in several communities in the Sherborn area. While the most recent suspects targeted an elder, the suspects will attempt the scam/B&E to a variety of potential victims. The scams/B&E’s are typically committed by suspects posing as utility workers (water/sewer, Verizon, Nstar, Comcast, Boston Edison, etc.) driving rented vans or vehicles. The suspects typically distract the occupants of the home by requesting to show them some sort of problem
within or outside the home relating to a service/system.
While one of the suspects distracts the occupants of the home, another suspect enters the home (or a different area of the home) and B&E’s the home. Please be aware and cautious of any unsolicited workers in your area. If you witness suspicious activity, or feel you are a victim of suspicious activity, a scam, or a B&E, please contact the Sherborn Police immediately @ (508) 653-2424. If possible, attempt to get a description of the potential suspects, a vehicle description, and a vehicle registration.
