What is Cyanotoxin?

  • Cyanobacteria produce a toxin called cyanotoxin.
  • Cyanotoxin can cause negative health effects including an upset stomach, vomiting, and/or diarrhea. 

What should I do?

  • Avoid coming into contact with the water, scum, foam, or algae from Farm Pond.
  • Restrict pets from coming into contact with the water, scum, foam, or algae from Farm Pond.
  • If you, a family member, or your pet, begin experiencing the negative health effects of cyanotoxin, seek medical attention as soon as possible.
    • After seeking medical attention, please call the Board of Health to inform them.

What else is being done?

  • The Board of Health is monitoring the situation closely.
  • The Board of Health is working with state and regional resources to ensure the situation is handled properly.
  • The Board of Health is issuing a strong advisory warning to avoid contact with the water in Farm Pond.
