SHERBORN PICKS UP 2024
Sherborn Picks Up, a community volunteer effort to pick up litter, is supported by the Town of Sherborn’s Select Board and its Department of Public Works. Sherborn is proud to be one of the Chapters of Keep Massachusetts Beautiful (KMB).
350 RESIDENTS NEEDED TO HELP - PLEASE SIGN UP!
As Sherborn celebrates its 350 birthday year, we are asking for 350 residents to help pick up litter; on walks, while biking or dog walking, jogging, hiking on the trails, from the roadsides, the wetlands and the athletic fields.
Please join our volunteers and sign up and declare your intent to pick up litter in a place and at a time of your choosing. Planned group or neighborhood meetups are welcomed and offer a powerful opportunity to make a difference in our town. We are happy to help organize. We are also working with the Sherborn Police to get extra speed control support during planned work on busy roads.
LITTER LETTERS PROJECT
Sherborn joins 17 other states and 7 other countries in creating public art around litter to promote recognition of the problem of litter around the world, and to inspire dialogue about preventing litter.
This April marks the 4th Art Installation of our 3D letters spelling out the word WHY in wire cages. It will be located in the center of town for the entire month of Apri. Residents may bring their collected litter and add it to the cages until they are filled.
Many thanks to our Pine Hill students and families who have been such eager participants each year.
Come and take some selfies with the WHY and share them with us on social media.
Please join our Facebook group of SherbornPicksUP and share your experiences and pictures of what you have accomplished within the community!
NOTE: DS High School Community Service hours are available for SherbornPicksUp efforts all year long. Please let us know if you are interested in more details.
Thank you in advance for helping to Keep Sherborn Beautiful and for being part of SherbornPicksUP’s 350th year celebration and community effort!
