Emergency Preparedness

Sherborn is part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Emergency Preparedness Region 4AB, and the Board of Health Administrator is an active participant in regional emergency preparedness meetings.

In conjunction with the Local Emergency Planning Committee and the Police and Fire departments, the Board of Health is charged with developing an Emergency Preparedness Plan for the citizens of the town. The critical Board of Health function of this plan is the establishment of an emergency dispensing site plan, in accordance with Department of Public Health guidelines.

The site, if activated, would be staffed by Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers from the town who would administer vaccines and/or dispense antibiotics, as well as provide assistance with the administration of the site. These volunteers would likely be a part of the response to infectious disease outbreaks of any magnitude. The Sherborn Board of Health invites interested citizens to become members of the Sherborn Medical Reserve Corps. Please contact the Board of Health for more information on joining.

Sherborn residents are encouraged to use the following files as guidelines to follow in the event of an emergency.
