The Farm Pond Advisory Committee would like you to know about Sherborn residents (1971-2021), Pat and Doug Cassell, for whom the Memorial Overlook at Farm Pond is named.  Married for 48 years, until Doug's death, they enjoyed sailed on Farm Pond and devoted countless hours to its conservation as well as to many other community endeavors.  On May 9, 2019 the Select Board gave their blessing to Pat for the final approval to move forward with the construction of a handicap-accessible overlook at Farm Pond.  The project, funded by private donations, was intended to provide a handicap-accessible location to observe the beauty of Farm Pond and serve as a memorial to her late husband Doug, who also cared deeply about the preservation of Farm Pond.  It is now a tribute to both of them.

Douglas A. Cassell (1940-2017)

Doug was active in Sherborn affairs, being a founder and two-time chairman of the Farm Pond Advisory Committee.  He was a long-time member, commodore and director of the Sherborn Yacht Club.

Patricia C. (Lace) Cassell (1942-2021)

Pat loved all things Sherborn, and if there was ever a cause or project in need of support, she was one of the first to lend a hand.  The organizations she supported were many and included being a Founder and Board Member for over 20 years at the Sherborn Community Center Foundation, which preserved and transformed the 1858 Town House historical building into a thriving Community resource.  Pat also took a leadership role in the transformation of the old Center School into the Sherborn Town Offices and Police Station as they are today.  Over the years she served on many of Sherborn's municipal committees including the Friends of Farm Pond, Farm Pond Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors for the Sherborn Yacht Club where she enjoyed organizing activities and making trophies for the Club events.
